Discover how Ifraj Zanzibar Foundation has been transforming lives across Pemba and Zanzibar through dedication, innovation, and community-focused initiatives.

Over the past eight years, we have worked tirelessly to address critical challenges in housing, food security, education, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), and community development. Our efforts have led to the construction of 291 homes, providing safe shelter for orphan families, and the establishment of 39 mosques, which serve as spiritual and cultural hubs for their communities.

In education, we’ve supported countless children by building 9 schools and 21 nurseries, distributing 1,576 school uniforms, and awarding 273 scholarships to bright students pursuing higher education. We’ve also contributed to improving learning environments by delivering 935 desks in 2024 alone.

Our food security programs have provided monthly rations to over 726 families annually, while community-focused projects like Furaha Park and the development of Birikau Road have fostered spaces for connection and improved mobility for countless individuals. Additionally, our WASH initiatives have resulted in 198 water projects, bringing clean water and better sanitation to underserved areas.

Furaha Park: A Notable Project of 2024

One of our notable projects during 2024 is Furaha Park, a vibrant community development initiative located in Pemba. This multifunctional space beautifully combines recreation, cultural connection, and spiritual enrichment. Furaha Park features a public park designed for leisure and cultural activities, alongside the iconic Furaha Masjid, a cornerstone for spiritual gatherings and community unity.
