WHO WE ARE

Ifraj Foundation is a non-profit organization operating in the Island of Pemba, Tanzania. Ifraj was founded upon the values of good will, empowerment, and honor.

We support orphan families in different ways such as providing scholarship for university studies, offering loans for small businesses, providing monthly food rations, building and maintaining homes. Along with our Orphan Support Programme, Ifraj Foundation supports community services and infrastructure. Our most recent project was building public toilets for a small community in Northern Pemba; however, we have been involved in building a footbridge, constructing mosques, connecting water pipes to houses for direct access, and most recently, working to support women and girls in sewing and producing hygienic and durable sanitary pads.

Our founders have spent a large portion of their early childhoods in Pemba and Zanzibar, prompting them to give back to their communities decades later. It is with respect, humility, and integrity that they have decided to dedicate their lives to repaying the communities that have given them so much.

Ifraj does not only feed. Ifraj finds a way to teach you how to find food. We don’t give you fish, we teach you how to fish. This is our main concept.
— Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Founder of Ifraj Foundation
I believe if you support just one family to make sure they have enough to eat, and their kids are living in a safe environment - you are successful
